The Spínola
Palace is the best example of state architecture to be
found on the island.
Built between 1730 and 1780 by José Feo Peraza,
its many elements such as the panelled entrance, stone
steps, interior chapel, grand salons and patio expressed
the political and military power of that epoch.
In fact, it was the residence for the governor of Lanzarote
throughout the 18th Century.
During the 1970's, the native artist, Cesar Manrique,
oversaw the palace´s restoration to its past splendour,
which can now be enjoyed by everyone.
