The
only part of the Franciscan Convent that remains today
is the church. Officially founded on April 26th, 1590,
the convent is basically Baroque in style.
The interior has two naves separated by a series of ribbed
arches.
The central nave holds three altar pieces; the right nave
has a smaller one, again in the Baroque style but with
indigenous touches; and in the small chapel to the left,
one of stone and masonry.
Today, the San Francisco Convent has been converted to
the Museum of Sacred Art.
