More Information
Lanzarote´s history holds a treasure that is, perhaps, best in evidence in the municipality of Teguise, with many attractions to draw visitors.

In the 1980´s Teguise was declared a combined architecturally historic-artistic centre as one of the oldest and most beautiful villages in the Canaries and is considered by both locals and visitors as a living museum.
1) IGLESIA DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE
When you enter the San Miguel Plaza, you'll find the church of "Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe". Constructed in the first half of the 16th Century, it proudly raises it red and black bevelled tower.
2) CASTILLO DE SANTA BÁRBARA
Teguise, ancient capital of the island, has proudly conserved this beautiful 16th Century castle which was constructed by Sancho de Herrera. Its walls of extraordinary thickness and sturdy square towers protect the castle that overlooks the Villa de Teguise.
3) PALACIO SPÍNOLA
Built between 1730 and 1780 by José Feo Peraza, its many elements such as the panelled entrance, stone steps, interior chapel, grand salons and patio expressed the political and military power of that epoch.
4) CONVENTO DE SANTO DOMINGO
This Dominican convent was founded in 1698 by Captain Rodríguez Carrasco, a resident of Teguise. The symbols of this order are displayed over the entrance to the right in this double facade.
5) CONVENTO DE SAN FRANCISCO
The only part of the Franciscan Convent that remains today is the church. Officially founded on April 26th, 1590, the convent is basically Baroque in style.
6) JARDÍN DE CACTUS
The Cactus Garden is one of César Manrique's last works where he turned an old quarry into an impressive cactus plantation. The garden is creatively arranged to enhance the extensive cactus collection.
7) FUNDACIÓN CÉSAR MANRIQUE
The César Manrique Foundation is the island’s cultural centre par excellence that has won international recognition not only because it houses some of the works of the world famous artist, but also because it exhibits Manrique´s private collection
