When you enter the San Miguel
Plaza, you'll find the church of "Nuestra Señora
de Guadalupe".
Constructed in the first half of the 16th Century, it
proudly raises it red and black bevelled tower.
The facade comprises a door framed by red quarry stone.
The interior is divided into three neogothic style naves,
with white plaster altar pieces in the apse and in the
semi-vaulted lateral naves.
This is an outstanding example of church architecture
for its blending of medieval artwork and monuments with
Canary architectural elements.
The history of this cathedral is marked by the many fires
it has suffered; the most important being in 1909 when
the Parish Archives of the Villa de Teguise were unfortunately
destroyed.
