 |
| 1) TOURIST INFORMATION OFFICES |
| COSTA TEGUISE:
Creation of a Tourist Information Office next to
the Pueblo Marinero in the centre of the Costa Teguise
tourist district. The office will be situated in
a small, newly constructed building, designed to
reflect typical Canary and local architectural features. |
|
TEGUISE:
Another tourist office in the Villa de Teguise will
be opened in the Palacio Spinola (Spinola Palace), with
direct access from the Plaza de la Constitución
in the heart of the historic centre.
|
 |
 |
| 2) BURIED GARBAGE CONTAINERS |
| Buried garbage containers
will be installed in two areas: one in the plaza
where the Sunday market (Mercadillo de la Villa
de Teguise) takes place year round, and the other
between the tourist complexes of Albatros and OasisLanz
in Costa Teguise. |
|
| This measure will above
all reduce the visual pollution suffered by those two
areas of interest: one in the historic-artistic heritage
zone, and the other in the centre of the Costa Teguise
Community, which as it stands impedes pedestrian traffic.
Both areas will have two units of three sections for organic
waste, a container for packaging, another for glass and
another for paper. |
 |
 |
| 3) TOCA SPORT-COLEGO INTERNACIONAL
CIRCLE |
| This entails the construction
of a circle road in the centre of Costa Teguise.
This circle is a reference point for many destinations
and is, in fact, a crossroads for a large volume
of daily traffic. |
|
 |
 |
4) RESTORATION OF THE MUSIC
PAVILION AND PUEBLO MARINERO |
| A complete restoration of the Plaza of
Puerto Marinero, as well as the Music Pavilion and its
adjacent streets, will be carried out in several phases
throughout the duration of the Plan of Excellence in Tourism.
|
The most urgent to be
considered in the first phase will be the renovation
of the Music Pavilion and the artistic lighting of the
Plaza, elimination of architectural barriers and the
restoration of the decorative motif in Pueblo Marinero
without changes to the original Cesar Manrique design.
|
 |
 |
| 5) PROJECT FOR ENERGY SAVINGS IN
STREET LIGHTING |
| Due to the cost of
this annual expenditure, energy saving street lamps
will be installed in Costa Teguise. The first phase
will be the replacement of existing lamps with those
of the same style but with energy efficient bulbs,
resulting in the near total elimination of light
pollution. |
|
 |
|
 |
| 6) PUBLICISING THE TEGUISE PLAN OF
EXCELLENCE IN TOURISM |
Logo of the
Teguise Plan of Excellence in Tourism:
A logo has been designed to define the project and
facilitate its public recognition. The Lanzarote
artist and UCCT artistic consultant, Ildefonso Aguilar,
synthesized two of the most common symbols of the
Municipality: depiction of the richness of the historic-artistic
heritage of the Villa de Teguise as seen on the
scrolls that adorn the main portico of the San Francisco
Convent, complemented by probably the most emblematic
scene, the Risco de Fomara.
Panels to publicise the Teguise Plan of
Excellence:
As another means to raise public awareness
of the Plan of Excellence, panels will be erected
at six entrances to the Municipality: three at the
access to Costa Teguise (from Arrecife, Teguise
and Guatiza), and another three in the Villa de
Teguise (accesses on the Arrecife-Haría and
Yaiza roads).
Promotion of the Plan of Excellence in Tourism:
Since the International Tourism Fair (FITUR’2005)
in Madrid is of great importance in the promotion
of the Plan of Excellence, panels giving relevant
information have been prepared. |
|
 |
 |
 |
| 7) DEVELOPMENT OF WEB SITE |
The web page for the
Plan of Excellence is presently being developed
under the domain name www.teguiseturismo.com.
Complete and up to date information will be posted
throughout the development of the Plan. |
|
| As well, we expect this site to become
the tourism portal to Teguise, and serve as the main guide
to all those who wish to know our Municipality. |
